Oatly

The dairy industry must be going nuts. During a recent visit to the grocery store, I counted more than 25 different nut-based milks. As Shaggy used to say to Scooby Doo, “Zoinks!” Where there’s demand, there’s supply. People are learning the truth about milk from animals, and it’s not pretty. It won’t be long before the dairy behemoths start investing in plant-based milk and even develop their own. The tide is turning.

Since Oatly, actually made from oats (and if you’ve been watching my live cooking videos, you know I’m a big fan of oats), has been all the rage, I decided to give it the old college try. Nothing in the ingredients list raised a red flag on EWG. It’s gluten-free but not organic to keep the price competitive.

I sampled it with oats and cinnamon and added it to my smoothie. Wow. Holy plant-based cow. Bingo. This stuff tastes better than milk from animals, and it’s healthier. Perfect texture and easy on the buds. It’s a boom with a little touch of shazam! Sales should skyrocket as word spreads, especially for people with nut allergies who don’t want to drink liquid suffering.

Although I’m in the MALK camp, I highly recommend trying Oatly. It’s affordable, delicious, humane, healthier than milk from animals, and more environmentally sustainable. Oatly gets my votely.

  1. Finally…oat “milk” in the US! 👍🏻I’ve been looking for it for years, wondering why I couldn’t find it, when there are soooo many other alternatives to milk. My favorite non-dairy “milk” is definitely oat “milk”. Oatly is great and they also make iKaffe…supposed to be used for a cappuccino, as it can be skimmed! its Yummie! Here in Sweden, we have lots of other brands too. The vanilla oat “milk” is my favorite, but so far Oatly doesn’t make it.

  2. Zoinks! indeed 🙂
Have you tried making milk from oats. I tried making it once and it was fairly good, but I think I need to work on the recipe a little more.
