Republicans Claim Tom Hanks Had Unfair Advantage Over Actresses in Bosom Buddies

In a stinging rebuke of the two-time Oscar winner, congressional Republicans argued Friday that any accolades Tom Hanks received for his role as Kip Wilson in the 80s sitcom Bosom Buddies should be revoked. “Being a man and dressing as a woman in that show gave Hanks a distinct advantage over actresses on the set that should never have been allowed,” said Republican Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who passed a House bill last week that will ban millions of transgender athletes from competing in women’s professional sports. McCarthy said Republicans plan on introducing legislation requiring men dressed in drag to act in all-male movies.
