Trump Selects Mar-a-Lago for Senate Impeachment Trial

Republican Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced on Thursday that Donald Trump’s U.S. Senate impeachment trial will be held at Mar-a-Lago. “We feel comfortable with the President’s decision given that the current Articles of Impeachment don’t address any violations of the U.S. Constitution’s emoluments clause,” McConnell explained.

“It’s the best location for a trial,” Trump said. “People call it the Winter White House. Some people say we have the biggest pool in the world.”

“I’m bringing my trunks,” Senator Marco Rubio said. “I’m not sure if I’ll swim after, but I’m bringing them just in case.”

“I’ve been down there many times at taxpayer expense, but I especially like to go in the winter. It’s one of the perks,” Vice-President Mike Pence said. Pence is not expected to swim.

Trump said fees will not be waived for use of the tennis courts or golf course. Dinner will be served at 8:00 p.m. and poolside cabanas will be reserved for Republicans and the Saudis. Additional fees may apply.
